Lirra was born from a simple frustration: gay men and queer adults who most deserve meaningful relationships — thoughtful, self-aware people — are the ones most poorly served by modern dating apps. We set out to fix that.
Why we built this
The problem with gay dating apps
Most gay dating apps are designed to keep you swiping — or worse, optimized for hookups. They treat queer adults as a monolith, ignoring the diversity of LGBTQ+ identities, relationship styles, and what people actually want long-term. The result is a generation of exhausted gay and queer singles who have been on hundreds of first dates but still can't find the right partner.
We asked a different question: what if a dating app was designed specifically for gay men and queer adults, by people who actually understand LGBTQ+ relationships? What if it was built around compatibility science instead of photo rankings?
